It has been a time here at Dovaston Towers! I am delighted to have been appointed as the interim Chair of the Family Law Committee for The Law Society of England and Wales. I have also been meeting and speaking with some really interesting people regarding the new divorce law that is coming into force on Wednesday 6 April 2022. Those of you who read my ‘News and Views’ will know that I have been heavily involved in the progress of the digital portals for solicitors and litigants in person, working co-operatively with HMCTS to get the best out of the system for all. Well, it will be unleashed, 10am Wednesday 6 April 2022 for no fault divorce. At last.
Last week I met with the lovely Dominic Casciani, the Legal Editor for the BBC to talk about the new divorce law. After all, this is the biggest change in 50 years so it really is a big deal. It was a lovely morning in the beautiful Law Society library (think Harry Potter times 10) and I got to talk about my favourite subject….. law.
I also had the pleasure of speaking on BBC Radio Five Live on Sunday 3 April 2022 on the Stephen Nolan, again about divorce law and why I think it is a good move forward. You can hear the discussion on BBC iPlayer or HERE. (I’m on about 9:50pm).
What do you think about the new divorce law?
