Our Karen Dovaston was interviewed for the news programme BBC South East Today, speaking about a case where a family has applied for a presumption of death certificate for a missing relative and it has taken them around 4 years so far, without resolution.
These are unusual applications, usually made by a spouse/civil partner, parent, child or sibling where a person has been missing and not heard of for 7 years or more. If they leave property or assets behind, there is an option for applying for a Guardianship order for a missing person to allow their financial affairs to be deal with.
