Essex Police civil disclosure service was launched on 1 April 2024. ‘Disclosure’ is when a request is made for documentation or information held by the Police. This could be for the purposes of court proceedings – often needed in proceedings about families where there are allegations of domestic abuse – or it could be for the victim of a crime to find out what happened.
I have always found Essex Police to be really good with disclosure requests. It has always seemed to me that Essex Police have thought about what might be asked of them and then designed a system to deliver it as efficiently as possible.
There are different forms that have to be used depending on what you are asking for and in what capacity. Frankly, anything that makes the process easier has to be welcomed.
For family court matters, you are directed to the Essex Police website HERE.
For the disclosure for civil litigation purposes – for example a car accident – the form to use is here A97 Application form V6_Accessible
I have found the Essex Police website to be really helpful. If you look HERE you can see what you can ask for.
Of course, I would expect nothing less from The Mighty County of Essex……..
